For the Coconut Filling:
- 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
For the Chocolate Glaze:
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup heavy cream

- Prepare the Cake:
- Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the cake mix box.
- Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish (or use parchment paper).
- Prepare the cake mix according to the box instructions and pour it into the prepared pan.
- Bake according to the cake mix package directions, usually around 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely.
- Prepare the Coconut Filling:
- In a medium bowl, combine the shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Stir until well combined. The mixture will be thick and sticky.
- Once the cake has cooled, use a spoon or spatula to spread the coconut mixture evenly over the top of the cake.
- Make the Chocolate Glaze:
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- Remove from heat and add the chocolate chips and butter. Stir until smooth and fully combined.
- Allow the glaze to cool slightly before pouring it over the coconut-covered cake.
- Finish the Cake:
- Pour the chocolate glaze over the coconut layer, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.
- Let the cake sit for about 30 minutes to allow the glaze to set before cutting and serving.
