Rustic Beef & Potato Casserole

large potatoes (boiled and mashed)1 egg2 tbsp butter2 tbsp chopped dill or parsleySalt and black pepper to taste400 g minced beef (or beef + pork mix)1 small onion, finely chopped1 garlic clove, mincedSalt and black pepper to taste½ tsp paprika (optional)½ cup shredded mozzarella or cheese mixA little sour cream or mayonnaise (optional, for extra creaminess)Prepare the mashed potato base:In a bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with butter, egg, dill, salt, and pepper.Form round flat disks (like shown in the picture) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.Make the meatballs:Combine minced meat, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.Shape into medium-sized balls and place one on top of each potato disk.Top and bake:Add a spoon of sour cream or mayonnaise over each one (optional).Sprinkle cheese on top.Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C (375°F) for about 30–35 minutes, until golden and cooked through.Serve:Let cool slightly, then serve warm with a fresh salad or vegetables.
